BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
HEALTH EDUCATION 403. (Formerly P.E. 212.) RECREATIONAL
LEADERSHIP. Men and Women. This is a course to prepare
leaders for recreational enterprises both in the school and in
the community. Emphasis is placed on the co-ordination of
recreational facilities, the content of programs for various
groups in relation to age and interest, and the administration
and evaluation of community recreation. Three semester
hours.
HEALTH EDUCATION 404. (Formerly H.E. 201.) ANATOMY AND
KINESIOLOGY. Men and Women. A detailed study will be
made of the human body with special emphasis on the muscular
system. Prerequisites, Biology, 101, 102. Three semester
hours.
Physical Education
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 101. INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION.
Men and Women. A study will be made of the philosophy
and principles of physical education. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 102. METHODS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION. Men.
This course includes elementary gymnastics, tumbling, bar
work, pyramid building, and instruction and practice in
sports and games, such as boxing, wrestling, tennis, swimming,
and gymnasium games. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 103. (Formerly P.E. 105.) TEAM SPORTS.
Women. This course deals with history, development, administration,
and evaluation of skill tests, proper methods of
conducting tournaments, also the analyzing and officiating
of each sport and the teaching of the techniques of the included
sports: basketball, fieldball, soccer, softball, speedball
and volleyball. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 201. (Formerly P.E. 106.) INDIVIDUAL AND
DUAL SPORTS. Women. A course offering the various methods,
officiating and techniques suitable for the analyzing and
teaching of the following sports: archery, badminton, bowling,
handball, shuffleboard, table tennis. Three semester
hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 202. (Formerly P.E. 104.) MAJOR SPORTS.
Men. A study is made of the rules of football, basketball, and
track. Special emphasis is placed on the way to watch a
football game, touching on plays and defensive formations.
No boys who are out for any major sports will be permitted
to take this course. Three semester hours.95
