BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 301. (Formerly P.E. 205.) PLAYGROUND SUPERVISION.
Men and Women. A study will be made of the
playground movement with emphasis on the organization,
administration, equipment and facilities for the school and
public playground. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 302. (Formerly P.E. 203.) ORGANIZATION
AND ADMINISTRATION OF MAJOR SPORTS. Men and Women.
This course is designed for those students who contemplate
positions as coaches and heads of athletic departments. The
organization and administration of athletic and physical education
programs; the selection, care and use of equipment;
and the coaching of major sports commonly offered in high
school will constitute the major topics in this course. Prerequisite:
Junior standing. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 303. (Formerly P.E. 103.) MAJOR SPORTS.
Men. This course includes the study of the theory and methods
of football, basketball, track and golf. Three semester
hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 304. (Formerly P.E. 209.) CONTENT AND
METHODS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS.
Women. This course includes a study of the principles,
content, methods, and program planning for Physical Education
in the first six grades. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 305. (Formerly P.E. 210.) CONTENT AND
METHODS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN HIGH SCHOOL. Women.
This course includes a study of the principles, content and
methods in Physical Education for high school students. The
physical, sociological, and psychological characteristics of
teen-age individuals are studied, and the program content
selected to provide for this age group. Three semester hours.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 401. (Formerly P.E. 201.) CURRICULUM
CONSTRUCTION. Men and Women. This course includes the
historical and social background of the natural program of
physical education; the application of educational principles;
the standards for guiding the selection of subject matter and
methods; and the preparation of the physical education
curriculum for the elementary, secondary and adult recreational
program. Prerequisite: 9 hours of P.E. Three semester
hours.
