BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
EDUCATION 405, 406. (Formerly Education 217, 218.) STUDENT
TEACHING IN THE ELEMENTARY GRADES. In this required
course for majors in Elementary Education, students will be assigned
to one of the elementary grades for participation in supervised
teaching situations. Prerequisites: eighteen hours of education
and senior standing. Credit: Six semester hours.
EDUCATION 411. (Formerly 224.) ADMINISTRATION OF THE
HIGH SCHOOL. This course includes a study of the practical problems
involved in high school administration. Three semester
hours.
EDUCATION 412. (Formerly 230.) ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION
OF THE PUPIL ACTIVITY PROGRAM IN THE SECONDARY
SCHOOL. This course includes a study of the problems related to
the organization and administration of pupil activities in the
Junior and Senior high schools. Three semester hours.
EDUCATION 413. (Formerly 226.) TEACHING ENGLISH IN HIGH
SCHOOL. See English 304.
EDUCATION 414. (Formerly 227.) TEACHING MATHEMATICS IN
HIGH SCHOOL. The course presents general and special methods of
teaching mathematics in high school. Limited to mathematics
majors or minors. Three semester hours.

SUBJECTS. See Business Administration 401.
EDUCATION 416. (Formerly 233.) TEACHING OF SPANISH IN
THE HIGH SCHOOL. See Spanish 405.
EDUCATION 417. METHODS IN FIRSTA A ND SAFETY EDUCATION.

EDUCATION 418, 419. (Formerly 205.) STUDENT TEACHING IN
THE SECONDARY SCHOOL. This course is required of all majors in
secondary education. It is designed to provide opportunity for
students majoring in secondary education to observe, evaluate,
and actually participate in the classroom program of the public
schools under the direction and guidance of the teacher and college
supervisor. Prerequisites: eighteen semester hours of education
and senior standing. Credit: Six semester hours.
EDUCATION 420. TEACHING SOCIAL STUDIES IN THE SECONDARY
SCHOOL. See History 407.
EDUCATION 421. (Formerly 204.) EDUCATIONAL TESTS AND
MEASUREMENTS. A careful study is made of the whole testing and
measuring program, covering the two fields of intelligence testing
and educational testing and measurements. Laboratory exercises
in testing will be carried out. Three semester hours.85
