EDUCATION 523. PROBLEMS IN SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION AND
SUPERVISION. This course is intended for graduate students in education
who desire to know more about their major interests: general
administration, elementary education, secondary education,
supervision, guidance, curriculum, etc. Each student is required
to select and develop a research problem in accordance with his
special interest. Three semester hours.
EDUCATION 524. THE PHILOSOPHY OF MODERN EDUCATION. A
careful and analytical study will be made of some of the more
vital educational philosophies of the past and present with the idea
of developing a philosophy of education in the mind of the student.
The development of the major theories and principles of
modern education will be emphasized in an effort to determine
the functioning of the philosophy of education in the school's
services to the individual and to society. Three semester hours.
EDUCATION 531. EVALUATIVE CRITERIA FOR SCHOOLS. This
course is intended to provide techniques for surveys of elementary
and secondary schools. The Evaluative Criteria for Secondary
Schools and the Handbook for Self Appraisal and Improvement
of Elementary Schools will be used as a basis for this course.
Actual practice in evaluating schools is required. Three semester
hours.
EDUCATION 532. STATE AND LOCAL EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION.
This is a course for graduate students who are interested in
knowing more about the organization and internal workings of
the American public school systems. Topics treated will be selected
in accordance with the need and interests of the class,
which may include such problems as: selection of school administrators
and other personnel; school plants; federal, state, and
local support; professional and lay responsibilities; school building
programs; curriculum making; school publicity; and guidance.
Three semester hours.
EDUCATION 599. THESIS COURSE. Six semester hours.

ART EDUCATION 101. ART IN THE PRIMARY GRADES. Methods
and problems in tempera paint, clay, finger paint, and crayons
to meet the needs of the primary teacher in creative art education.
