The preceding curriculum is recommended for the Bachelor
of Science degree with a major in Elementary Education. The
same courses in Education will be required for the Bachelor of
Arts degree with a major in Elementary Education. Courses
marked by asterisk (*) are suggested as electives.
Recommended minors for students majoring in Elementary
Education are in the fields of Art Education, Music Education,
Physical Education, and Speech. Bible and Religious Education
are approved for minors of students planning to follow a special
service program.
EDUCATION COURSES
EDUCATION 104. CHILD DEVELOPMENT. (Formerly THE PSYCHOLOGY
OF CHILDHOOD.) The purpose of this course is to develop
an understanding of children and their needs through the current
program in education. Supervised observation studies will be
made in the local elementary schools. This course is required of
all students majoring in elementary education. Three semester
hours.
EDUCATION 121. INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATION. This course
offers the student in elementary or secondary education an introductory
overview of the field of teaching with emphasis upon its
opportunities and requirements as a profession. All students majoring
in education are required to have credit for this course.
Three semester hours.
EDUCATION 201. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION. In this primary
curriculum course attention is given to the general aspects
of early childhood education as well as to the specific subjectmatter
areas. Both teacher and administrator may study the guid- -
