BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
Howard Payne College has a beautiful cottage on the District
Sixteen Encampment grounds for the use of the students
and teachers.
EQUIPMENT
College Library.
The reading rooms are equipped with tables and chairs. The
reserve reading room contains the encyclopedias, dictionaries,
atlases, and other reference works of a general nature. These
works are placed in open shelves and are easily accessible to the
students. The periodical reading room contains files of the leading
literary and scientific magazines of the day. These files furnish
abundant material on current questions. Use of periodicals is
restricted to the reading rooms.
The library contains 50,000 volumes. These consist of references
for all departments.
The library now has possession of several special collections
that are of great value.
The Robert E. Howard Memorial Collection. This collection
of general literature was presented to the College by Dr. I. M.
Howard in memory of his son, Robert E. Howard who died
June 11, 1936. The collection contains a complete file of magazines
in which the published works of Howard had appeared prior
to his death.
The John D. Robnett Collection is made up of the library of
the late Dr. John D. Robnett, founder and former president of
Howard Payne College. The collection contains approximately
three hundred volumes. These works consist principally of
theological and ethical material. The library is the gift of the sons
of Dr. John D. Robnett, viz., Captain John D. Robnett, Jr.,
United States Navy, deceased; Dr. A. H. Robnett, Captain Medical
Corps, United States Navy; Major E. H. Robnett, deceased;
and Rev. James P. Robnett, deceased.
The Wade D. Vinson Sociology and Theology Collection is
the gift of Mrs. Wade D. Vinson; her daughter, Miss Lena Vinson
and her son, Mr. Truett Vinson, of Brownwood, Texas. This
collection contains numerous works of theology and sociology
which had been a part of the library of the late Rev. Wade D.
Vinson. In addition the collection contains the file of several
magazines on the subject of missionary endeavor together with
several volumes of clippings on missions. The collection contains-
