BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
Boenicke Museum. Through the generosity of Mr. Albert
Boenicke, a pioneer citizen of Brown County, Howard Payne
College has come into possession of one of the finest and most
complete collections of natural history and ethnological specimens
to be found in the state. Several hundred mounted specimens
along with hundreds of Indian relics compose the collection.
Dr. C. G. Schurman of Big Spring has recently augmented
the museum with a splendid collection of Indian relics from the
upper Mississippi Valley region.
A small but interesting collection of scientific and historical
material has been established in connection with the science
laboratories. Friends and ex-students are invited to send to the
college specimens of interest. The college is well equipped to
care for private collections which may be placed in the museum
under loan arrangements.
Leslie Boone Collection: Dr. and Mrs. Leslie Boone have
given to the library and museum a large collection of old historical
documents and letters and a number of fine museum pieces.
STUDIOS
Music. The Music Studios are large, neat rooms, finished
and furnished in artistic taste. They are in the choicest location
in the Chapel.
Speech Arts. The Speech Arts Studio is located on the second
floor, near the auditorium. Thus, classes may easily move to
the Auditorium for rehearsals.
PUBLICATIONS
The Yellow Jacket. A weekly newspaper has been established
in an effort to furnish the students a medium for the expression
of literary talent. It is under the immediate direction of
the Yellow Jacket staff, elected by the Student's Association with
the general oversight of the president of the College and the
special counsel of the Committee on Student Publications.
Annual. The Lasso is the College Annual, edited and published
by a staff selected by the Student's Association with the
counsel of the Committee on Student Publications. Its purpose is
to crystalize college spirit.
The Link. The Link is the name of the monthly Alumni
paper which is mailed from the office of Public Relations to a
large list of ex-students and friends.31
