1919-Pre-Medical Courses added. Summer term established. Extension
work authorized.
1919-Dr. L. J. Mims, president. East Barracks reconstructed for
temporary men's dormitory. West Barracks reconstructed
for temporary gymnasium.
1920-Mims Auritorium and Fine Arts Building constructed.
1921-Old high school purchased for Academy Building, new
Science Hall.
1922-Athletic Park purchased.
1922-Dr. W. R. Horburg, acting president.
1923-Dr. Edgar Godbold, president.
1924-Admited to American Association of Colleges; Admitted to
Membership in Texas Association of Church Related Colleges;
Director of Extension work appointed; Endowment
campaign launched.
1929-Thos. H. Taylor, president.
1934-Debts paid. Debt free charter written.
1934-Hardin Trust set up. $300,000 endowment for Howard
Payne College.
1935-Home Economics cottages erected.
1936-Byars Centennial Celebration. Monument erected.
1937-Temporary Gymnasium destroyed by fire.
1939-Physical Education Building constructed.
1940-Enlargement of campus begins.
1943-Walker Trust created. Under the will of the late Mr. John
Allen Walker, Howard Payne College received one million
dollars endowment.
1947-Old Boys Dormitory and Cottage home removed from
campus; Thomas H. Taylor Hall erected; Ministerial Apartments
erected; New Steam Heating Plant and Book Store
erected.
1948-Annex Buildings moved from Camp Bowie; Infirmary and
Nursery installed; Admitted to Membership in Southern
Association of Colleges; Became a member of Southern
Baptist Education Association.
1949-Admitted to Membership in American Council on Education.1952-Graduate study offered.
1953-Walker Memorial Library completed.19
