This course is meant to assist in preparing better equipped
workers for the religious training of American young people in
Sunday School and young peoples' societies.
Prerequisi .-Bible 1 and 2, and Religious Education 110.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 112.
(The Missionary Work of the Churches)
Spring. Three Hours per Week.
This course begins with the Great Commission, traces rapidly
the activities of the early church, the introduction of Christianity
into Europe, but special emphasis is given to modern missionary
needs and methods.
Prerequisite.-Bible 1 and 2, and Religious Education 110 and 111.
ENGLISH
ENGLISH 1.-RHETORIC, LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION.
Fall, Winter, Spring. Three Hours a Week.
Rhetorik.-Special attention is given to all the fundamental and
essential rhetorical principles of effective writing in prose, with
particular reference to the four forms of discourse. Attention is
given to the study and analysis of prose specimens and to English
versification.
Written Work.-Weekly themes, limited to one page during the
greater part of the year, are required. Special trmj each term is
required. English Composition.
Textbooks.-Nutter, Hersey and Greenough, Specimens of Prose;
Canby and Others, English Composition in Theory and Practice;
Ashmun, Modern Short Stories.38
