BOSQUE COUNTY HISTORY BOOK COMMITTEE
Elizabeth Torrence
Nell Gilliam Jenson
Dula Bonds, former president of Bosque County Historical Commission and retired school
teacher, was the original driving force in publishing this history. The project was her "brain child"
and she transmitted enthusiasm to others. She lived only to see the formation of the committee
that would direct the work, her sudden death occurring in June, 1983.
Mrs. Bonds appointed Nell Gilliam Jenson (Mrs. Odis R.) of Clifton as coordinator of the History
Book Committee. A lifelong resident of Clifton and a retired school teacher, Mrs. Jenson organized
the county committee and directed its work. She appointed the following sub-chairmen:
Elizabeth Torrence, descendant of Bosque County pioneers and retired school teacher, served
as Clifton's sub-chairman. She also assumed many extra duties of the project along with Mrs.
Jenson.
Charlene Bronstad Tergerson (Mrs. Lonnie) served as sub-chairman of the Cranfills Gap area.
She is a descendant of Cranfills Gap pioneers and is currently employed by Evans Specialty
Company.
Geraldine Bates Bakke (Mrs. Oris) and LaMona Low Boyd (Mrs. W.E.) have shared the sub-
chairmanship for Iredell. Mrs. Bakke, native of Bosque County, is a real estate agent, and Mrs.
Boyd, longtime Iredell resident, is post-mistress there. In the early stages of the project, Micki
Nellis (Mrs. Alden) served as sub-chairman.
Lucille Allen Hughes (Mrs. George W.) has been sub-chairman for the Kopperl area. A native
of Bosque County, Mrs. Hughes is a retired school teacher.
