When the book project reached the realm of "big business", it became evident that a bookkeeper
was needed. To fill this need, Odis R. (Happy) Jenson was appointed. Mr. Jenson has worked
with the county committee and the publishers, National ShareGraphics, Inc. of Dallas, in handling
these duties. He is a retired businessman, having been in the automobile business in Clifton for
36 years.
And keeping a watchful eye over all proceedings of this project has been C. Edwin Olsen, president
of Bosque County Historical Commission. A descendant of Bosque County pioneers, Mr. Olsen
manifests strong interest in the heritage of this area and like his predecessor, Dula Bonds, believes
in preserving history.
Research and writing of the Bosque County History actually began in March, 1983. It is one of the more important projects
of the Bosque County Historical Commission and is recognized as one of the special observances of the Texas Sesquicentennial.
Members of the History Book Committee have devoted thousands of hours to this publication. In spite of the many hours spent
in the preparation of the material, the committee is aware that errors may have crept in. For this, your forbearance is asked. All
efforts have been toward a single goal: to produce a history of Bosque County that will have a lasting effect and be a stepping
stone to more histories to follow. It is hoped that you will value the efforts of these ardent workers.
The committee members have worked without pay. Being paid was not the intent, and each member purchased a copy of the
book the first month of the endeavor. When asked just what they got from doing this work, the answer was supplied from the
writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it."
