Education EDUCATION 4326. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS AND MEDIA.
A study of available resources for teaching, including audio-visual media, community
and library resources. Emphasis on teaching methods and strategies
which may be utilized in conjunction with appropriate media. Laboratory
experience provided for the production of teaching materials. Required for
Secondary Provisional Certification and All-Level Certification. Fall, spring.
Prerequisite: Senior standing. Three semester hours
EDUCATION 4336. THE CURRICULUM OF THE SECONDARY SCHOOL.
This course involves a study of the history of current theories and practices.
Special emphasis is given to the reorganization of the curriculum with a detailed
study of the separate subjects of the secondary school. Fall, spring.

EDUCATION 4396-4306. STUDENT TEACHING IN THE
SECONDARY SCHOOL.
This course emphasizes directed observation and participation in the public school
program at the secondary level. Required for the Secondary Provisional Certificate.

Prerequisite: Senior standing. Six semester hours
EDUCATION 4330. PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION.
A study of the philosophies of Education historically underlying movements and
leaders. Required for the Elementary and Secondary Provisional Certificates.
Fall, spring, summer.
Prerequisite: Six semester hours of Education. Three semester hours
EDUCATION 4117, 4227, 4337. SPECIAL STUDIES.
One to three hours credit for independent or group study in a special field. No
more than six hours in Special Studies are allowed in a department.
EDUCATION 4108, 4208, 4308, 4408, 4508, 4608. INSTITUTE.
WORKSHOP.
One to six hours credit designed for a special short-term concentrated course for
a specific need.
SPECIAL EDUCATION 4371-4381. DIRECTED TEACHING IN
COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS.
(To include at least 100 clock hours of therapy in a public school setting.)

EDUCATION 4314. EDUCATION OF THE YOUNG CHILD.
Survey of the history and philosophy of early childhood education with a comparison
to current trends and issues. Characteristics of child growth, principles
of learning, techniques of evaluation, and cooperation with parents/community
in meeting the cognitive/psychomotor/affective aspects of development.
Prerequisite: Six semester hours of Education. Three semester hours
EDUCATION 4324. KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM.
Overview of curriculum areas, principles of planning experiences, materials for
implementing learning, and techniques of organizing a program for five-year-old
children on the basis of full/half-day kindergartens.
