REQUIREMENTS FOR MINOR IN HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
FOR INDIVIDUALS NOT WORKING FOR TEACHER CERTIFICATION
P.E. 1311, 1331, 3301, 3385-3386; six hours from 3311, 3331, 3355-3356,
3341, 4321; and six hours of activity.
Three (3) hours of physical education are required for graduation. These
three hours should be taken in the freshman and sophomore years. Beginning
swimming is recommended for those who do not know how to swim.
Any person who has been honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the
United States may receive 2 semester hours credit in physical education for six
months active duty. Three hours credit may be granted for a year or more
active duty. A copy of DD 214 must be on file in the Admissions and Records
office to establish credit.
Physical Education for the Physically Handicapped:
* Physician's verification required
* Physical education requirement will be met by taking: P.E. 3385 or P.E.
3386.
ACTIVITY COURSES FOR MEN AND WOMEN
VARSITY SPORTS ARE THE ONLY CLASSES WHICH MAY BE REPEATED
FOR CREDIT. A VARSITY SPORT MAY BE REPEATED ONLY
ONCE FOR CREDIT.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1119. PHYSICAL TESTING AND
CONDITIONING.
This course consists of testing on different aspects of physical fitness, physical
conditioning and participation in several individual and team sports. Fall, spring.
One semester hour
CO-ED ACTIVITIES
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1139. TENNIS.
Fall, spring, summer.
Prerequisite: P.E. 1119. One semester hour
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1149. ARCHERY AND BADMINTON.
Fall, spring.
Prerequisite: P.E. 1119. One semester hour
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1150. WATER SAFETY.
This course will emphasize advanced water skills and techniques of life saving.
Opportunities will be provided to qualify students for WSI certification. Spring.
Prerequisite: P.E. 1119 and 1160 or consent of Instructor. One semester hour
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1160. BEGINNING SWIMMING.
This course designed to teach non-swimming students how to swim. The course
will be concentrated over a six-weeks period. Fall, summer.
