DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS
SECRETARIAL
B.A. 101 (Formerly 103.) ELEMENTARY TYPEWRITING. The
development of basic typewriting skills and operating techniques.
This course is for beginning students only. Students who have
had previous typewriting instruction may enroll only by special
permission. Three class periods and three laboratory periods each
week. Credit: Three semester hours.
B.A. 102 (Formerly 104.) ADVANCED TYPEWRITING. Improvement
of basic typewriting skills and the application of these skills
in personal and business situations. This course includes an advanced
study of stencil cutting, letter-writing, manuscript typing,
tabulation problems, business forms, and legal work. Three class
periods and three laboratory periods each week. Credit: Three
semester hours.
B.A. 201. (Formerly 105.) ELEMENTARY SHORTHAND. An intensive
introductory course. The functional simplified method
will be used. Theory, advanced phrasing, speed building. Students
who have previously had shorthand instruction may enroll only
by special permission. Three lecture and two laboratory hours
per week. Credit: Four semester hours.
B.A. 202. (Formerly 201.) ADVANCED SHORTHAND. Intensive
drill on dictation, speed building, and transcription, with emphasis
on business standards in quality and quantity. The structure
and execution of model business letters will be stressed. Three
lecture and two laboratory hours per week. Prerequisite: B.A.
201. Credit: Four semester hours.-
