absence and will require such make-up as is necessary for the
completion of the course.
10. Students who are absent from a scheduled examination
shall not be excused except for serious illness or unavoidable, acceptable
absence. In cases of excused absences from examination,
students must secure a permit from the Dean of the College to
take the special examination to be administered at the convenience
of the instructor.
11. The following procedure will be followed in dealing
with Chapel absence:
a. Written excuses will not be required.
b. Warning letters will be sent to students when they have
been absent six times.
c. If absences are continued, a personal interview with the
Dean of Men and the Dean of Women will be next.
d. When the student has more than thirteen absences, the final
action will be taken by the discipline committee. The student
will be notified of his (her) suspension from classes,
and drop cards will be sent the faculty.
12. Students who are absent from scheduled classes in fine
arts shall not have such classes made up, except in case of serious
illness or other providential hindrance.
13. Seniors who, during their last summer or term, make an
average grade of B on class work in any course will be exempt
from the final examination in that course. Exemptions from final
examinations are granted during the semester or term in which
the student completes the last work (courses) required for graduation,
whether it be the first or last semester of the long session
or a summer term.
14. Students are counted absent from the first day of the
semester.
15. Students are given special examination cards at the dean's
office. These cards must be countersigned at the business office
on payment of one dollar fee and then.presented to the teacher
before the examination is given.
16. Students passing in no work will be suspended for twelve
months.
17. Students passing only one subject will be suspended for
one semester. Students suspended for poor scholarship are readmitted
on trial and will be suspended for twelve months if they
fail to pass three subjects on the first monthly grades.46
