BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
REPORTS AND EXAMINATIONS
Teachers will report to the dean's office every week excessive
absences from classes and students failing in work. Each nine
weeks full reports are made of grades and attendance of all students.
Final examinations are held and permanent records made
at the close of each semester. Grade reports are mailed to parents
except in the case of students who are self-supporting.
SPECIAL REGULATIONS
1. Excuses for all absences must be presented in writing to
the teachers within two days after the student returns to school.
2. Five per cent will be deducted from the class grade for
each unexcused absence from class.
3. Three tardinesses are equivalent to one absence.
4. Absence preceding and following holidays will be counted
as equal to absence for two ordinary days.
5. Attendance by students upon denominational Worker's
Conferences, associational meetings, denominational sessions or
other conventions will not be accepted as an excuse from chapel
or class work unless the student attending is pastor of a church
or is a paid worker in that Association, or is on the regular program
arranged for such meeting.
6. Seventy-five per cent attendance upon all classes and
laboratory periods is required before credit can be given for any
college course. No excuses will be accepted for any less attendance.7. Coaches or directors of college teams of organized groups
sponsored by the college shall file with the Dean of Men (for
young men students), and with the Dean of Women (for young
women students), a list of those students chosen to represent the
college, dating from the hour of leaving until the hour of their
return to the college. This list shall be filed and approved before
the groups leave the college.
8. Teachers will keep records of absences and will report to
the Dean of Men and the Dean of Wlomen immediately following
the three consecutive unexcused absences of any student, or
accumulated absences which endanger the scholastic standing of
the student. Teachers will submit the names of students with accumulated
absences to the deans at four-week intervals from the
beginning of each semester.
