INTRODUCTION
Modern agriculture is dynamic and challenging,
demanding young men and women with scientific
knowledge, business ability, skill, and ambition. The
challenge in the field is to produce more and higher quality
food and fiber for exploding world populations. If modern
farm practices were applied to the world's fertile land, there
would be no excuse for food shortages.
ACU agriculture graduates are qualified for work in Civil
Service or Extension Service, in agribusiness, or on farms
and ranches. There are more than 500 different agriculture
professions. More than one-fifth of ACU graduates obtain
advanced degrees qualifying them for research or teaching.
The department conducts research projects in range,
agronomy, animal science, and agricultural economics. It
operates several farm and ranch enterprises to provide
laboratory situations and employment for students. The
department sponsors various judging teams, clubs, an
honor society, and a rodeo club. The judging teams have
consistently won high honors in national competition.
For information on scholarships available in Agriculture,
see the chairman of the department.
