5319. Acoustics.
Wave motion and sound production, speech perception and measurement, voice production,
hearing, auditorium and room acoustics, electruments, electronic sound production. Designed
to meet the needs of majors in communication disorders and music programs. (Same as
Physics 5319).
5352. Audiology.
A survey of the science of hearing, assessment and functioning, and of the social and clinical
endeavors centered in problems of hearing loss and deafness. Includes practicum in hearing
screening and basic audiometric testing.
5353. Hearing Rehabilitation.
Theory and practice of acoustic amplification, auditory training, speech reading, speech rehabilitation,
and educational considerations for the hearing impaired and deaf education.
5356. Advanced Speech-Language Pathology I.
A study of articulation, language, language development, and fluency disorders. Includes case
studies and clinical observation. Prerequisite: Com-P 2335.
5357. Advanced Speech-Language Pathology II.
A study of organic speech and language disorders. Speech problems associated with cleft palate,
cerebral palsy, laryngeal problems, CVA and motor speech disorders. Includes case studies and
clinical observations. Prerequisitie: Com-P 2335.
5369. Linguistics.
The science of language with particular emphasis on the current trends in communication,
language development, and linguistic concepts. (Same as Eng 5369 and Ed 5369).
5371. Methods in Language and Learning Disabilities.
A survey of the more prominent methodological approaches to the theory and management of
children with language and/ or learning disabilities. (Same as Psy 5377).
5380. Diagnostic Methods in Speech-Language Pathology.
Theoretical and laboratory study of instruments and paradigms used in diagnosis, assessment
and treatment of speech and language disorders. Prerequisite: Com-P 2335.
5381. Neurological and Physiological Processes of Communication.
Fundamental principles of normal anatomy, neurology and physiology with special reference
to the functions related to speech, hearing and language disorders.
5193, 5293, 5393, 5394. Clinical Practicum in Speech-Language Pathology.
Experience in clinical procedures in speech pathology. Designed to familiarize the student with
diagnostic procedures and clincial experience in handling cases. Prerequisite: Com-P 4380 or 3359
at HSU and com-P 2325.
6300. Guided Study.
May be repeated for up to six hours of credit
6311. General Research Methods.
An introduction to research methods and their application to research problems. Prerequisite: A
course in statistics or tests and measurement. (Same as B.A. 6311, Bib. M. 6319, Ed. 6311, and
Psy. 6311).
6320. Communication Research Methods.
Research methods used in communication. Emphasis on the scientific method, survey research,
laboratory research, sampling procedures, questionnaire construction, and interviewing techniques.
Prerequisite: Psychology 3356 or equivalent.
6359. Seminar in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Theory in Speech Pathology.
Studies in a specialized area of speech pathology; evaluation of diagnostic and therapeutic literature.
May be taken more than one semester. Limit 6 hours.
6361. Special Problems in Speech Pathology and Audiology.
In-depth study of various problems, concepts and subjects in speech pathology and audiology.

Evaluation of the theoretical and experimental literature in speech pathology; supervised
