PLAN I: By graduation from an accredited
high school. (Your high school principal or
counselor can answer questions regarding accreditation).
Complete all previous steps. If you do
not rank in the top three-fourths of your class,
you can qualify for fall enrollment by:
(a) earning an ACT Composite Standard Score of
15 or above.
(b) attending summer or spring sessions at ACC
and making a grade point average of at least
1.0 (D) on a minimum of 12 semester hours.
In addition to your high school diploma, you
must have completed a minimum of 15 units
including English 3, pure social science 2, mathematics
2, science 1, and seven electives selected
from the list approved by the State Department
of Education. If you have a high school diploma
and have not met the above minimum requirements,
you may be admitted and allowed to make
up the missing subjects in one of the following
ways:
1. By taking an examination in the subject(s), provided
the examination is taken before work in
the subject is done in college;
2. By counting back work in college (a course of
six semester hours absolves one and one-half
units);
3. By making an average grade of C on 30 semester
hours of work in the freshman year;
4. By ranking in the top 25 percent of the freshman
class, based on ACT scores.
PLAN II: By individual approval. The Dean
can approve freshman applications from persons
21 years old or over.
PLAN III: Transfer from other colleges.
1. Submit your transcript.
2. You must be in good standing with the college
or university previously attended and acceptable
for readmission there.
3. You must have the following grade point average:Freshman 1.0 Junior 2.0
Sophomore 1.5 Senior 2.0
However, if you trasfer as a freshman or sophomore
and your grade point average is less than
2.0, you will be admitted on academic probation.
4. Transfers from non-accredited institutions must
do 30 hours of work at ACC with not less than
a C average.
New Student Orientation
All new students with fewer than 30 semester
hours must attend a 2/2-day Freshman Orientation program at one of the sessions during the
Summer or the one immediately prior to Fall
enrollment. If you attend one of the summer
orientations, you are given registration privileges
which means you will be in the first group of
Freshmen to register for Fall classes. Key parts
of orientation will be the Freshman Battery of
Tests and the Inter-action Seminar. Students
who earn credit by examination are NOT exempt
from orientation.
Transfer students with 30 semester hours or
more should attend a one day transfer orientation
which will be scheduled just prior to registration.
In both types of orientation a discussion of
various phases of college life, including academic
course planning and scheduling, is designed to
help you find your place in ACC.
SPECIAL TESTS
You are urged to take all of the following
College Board Achievement Tests that are applicable
to you during your senior year in high
school, and have your scores sent to ACC. If
you take them before reporting for orientation,
you will have more time for other matters.
(1) MATHEMATICS, LEVEL I. Required
if you plan to take (a) algebra and trigonometry
or (b) analysis I (analytics and calculus) during
your freshman year.
(2) ENGLISH COMPOSITION TEST. Take
this test if you want to attempt to earn college
credit in English and do not plan to take the
College Board Advanced Placement Test in
English. If you score 600 or more on the ECT
you will earn three semester hours of credit in
English.
(3) FRENCH, GERMAN, LATIN, and
SPANISH, If you have had two or more units
of credit in these subjects, you should be able
to earn college credit by examination (up to four
semesters or 14 semester hours of credit.) Take
both Reading Comprehension and Listening
tests in French, German, and Spanish. For
Latin, take the Reading Comprehension Test.
There will be a room charge of $2 a day.
Linens are not furnished. Meals may be obtained
on campus at reasonable prices.
