2. The student receives credit for a "P"
grade, but the "P" and "NP" grades are
not counted in computing the GPA.
3. No courses in which a student has received
"F" may be repeated on the pass/
non-pass basis.
4. The teacher does not know which students
are taking a course pass/non-pass.
The student registers for the course but
changes to a pass/non-pass in the Registrar's
office after registration. This must
be done within the first six weeks of the
semester. The teacher will give the student
a regular grade at the end of the
semester, but a grade of "D" or better
will be recorded at "P."
Numbering of Courses
ACC uses a four-digit system. The following
example shows the meaning of each digit:
semester hours

the course

13 I between courses
-.1--..._ .1-freshman
2-sophomore
3-junior

Graduate divisionGrade Reports
Parents or guardians will receive a midsemester
report of failures and an end-ofsemester
report of grades. (Not applicable to
students 21 years of age who pay their own
expenses.)
Study Load
A student must be enrolled for at least 12
hours to be considered a full-time student. The
average load is 15-16 hours. Nineteen hours is
the maximum load for first semester students.
Lighter loads are recommended for students who
work or who ranked in the lower half of their
high school classes. After the first semester, the following guideline is
suggested:
If your grade point is: Maximum hour load
less than 2.5 ........................................16
2.5 to 2.9 ...... .. ... .... ......... 18
3.0 to 3.4 ............................................20
3.5 to 4.0 ...........................................21
Scholastic Probation
To avoid or be removed from scholastic
probation, you must pass in three-fifths of your
work any one semester and attain the following
grade point averages (GPA):
Freshman admitted on scholastic probation
(must take at least a 12 hour load) ........1.0
Other freshmen ...1...........................1.0
Sophomore .................................... 1.5
Junior ......... ..................2.0
Senior ....2..0..... .................. ... 0
If you fail to meet these standards, you will
be dropped from college for at least one semester
and, if readmitted, will be on probation.
If you fail in all courses any one semester,
you must have the approval of the Admissions
Committee before registering for the succeeding
semester.
In computing grade point averages, I's and
E's will count as failing grades until removed.8
