STATE BAR SUCCESSES
1951 & 1952
Did you know that during the
year 1951, forty-nine St. Mary's
graduates took the State Bar Ex-
amination, and forty-six passed?
Yes, and on the March, 1951,
examination, Mr. Herbert Warner
scored the highest grade over all
of the bar applicants of the en-
tire state, and Mr. Anees A.
Semann scored the second high-
est grade.

Bill Merkin, President,
Barristers Club
As you enter this final phase of your formal education, I want
to sincerely and whole-heartedly welcome you on behalf of the
entire Student Body.
By coming to St. Mary's, you are preparing yourselves most
adequately for your personal careers in the noblest and most sig-
nificant of professions because as attorneys, you are more than
the protector of the property rights of your client, but you are the
watchdog and the champion of the civil, religious, and political
liberties which so many of our countrymen take for granted.
You shall find Law School a great and stimulating challenge,
not only mentally, but I confess, sometimes physically and emo-
tionally as well. It is an experience that shall open your mind to
new channels of thought, and it shall broaden your insight and
understanding on many different and varied subjects that are
presently familiar to you. It is for this reason that I know you
shall appreciate, and with the passing of time, become more
cognizant of your excellent choice of profession and School.
The Barristers Club, your Student Body organization, shall
give you all the assistance and encouragement possible towards
the realization of your coveted goals. Feel free to call on us, no
matter what your problem may be, just as we did with those who
were here before us. The opportunity to aid you is a privilege
and as you become more familiar with St. Mary's University
School of Law and its students, you shall realize that this spirit
of cooperation and brotherhood is an integral and natural part of
our group.
St. Mary's University and The Barristers Club is proud to
have you with us, because we realize that we grow through the
medium of new members. We know that you bring to us new ideas,
new inspiration, new strength.
In conclusion, may I suggest a formula to guide you through
these next few years, "Give the best you have to St. Mary's and
the best will come back to you."
