Dean Ernest A. Raba has an-
nounced the appointment of Carlos
C. Cadena as full-time professor
to replace our late and beloved
Judge Dixon Gulley. Mr. Cadena
has served as a part-time instruc-
tor for the last five years. He will
serve as the principal Property
instructor.
Having received his elementary
and high school education at St.
Henry's Academy, San Antonio,
Texas, Mr. Cadena attended the
University of Texas and received
his LL.B from that institution in
1940, while studying under the
McKie Scholarship. He was award-
ed the highest honor of his grad-
uating class and was received into
the Order of the Coif and the
Chancellors, both honorary organ-
izations. While a student of the
University of Texas Law School,
Mr. Cadena served in the capacity
as the student editor of the Texas
Law Review. Mr. Cadena has re-cently been awarded his Masters
of Law degree after attending the
University of Texas on the John
Hays Whitney Research Fellowship.
Professor Cadena has served
as assistant City Attorney of San
Antonio, Texas, for four years and
was in the private practice of
law for four years interrupted by
a hitch in the Army Air Force for
three years.
THE BUILDING
EXPANSION
In October of 1951 part of the
School of Law was moved into a
new area contained within the
newly constructed River Garage.
Four modern air-conditioned fac-
ulty offices, a large classroom
and a very spacious and a well
furnished lounge room are housed
in the new addition.Cadena Named As Successor
To Judge GulleyJack Oeffinger of San Antonio,
Texas and Vincent Tarlton of
Corous Christi, Texas have been
called into Military Service and
have received their licenses under
a military exemption.
Major Simpson Woolf, of Salt
Lake City, Utah, now stationed
at Lackland AirForce Base, made
the highest grade in the State
with a grade of 81 per cent. He
tied with a graduate from the
University of Texas.
Jack Droitcourt and Manuel V.
Lopez, both from San Antonio,
Texas ranked third in the State
with a grade of 79 per cent. Two
hundred and fourteen (214) took
the Bar Examination and one hun-
dred and forty-nine (149) passed.
Roberto Ornelas was the young-
est applicant to take the bar ex-
amination since the late Bill
Hensley; he can't get his license
until December of 1952 when he
becomes an adult.
