State track and field
meet available on radio
AUSTIN-The state track and field champi-
onships will be live in West Texas this week-
end.
The meet, which will be held Friday and
Saturday in Austin, will be broadcast live on
KFLP Radio (900 AM and 106.1 FM) and
KTNZ (1010 AM). The coverage will also
be streamed live at www.texastrackmeet.
comhttp://www.texastrackmeet,coir.
This is the eighth year the University In-
terscholastic League's event has been broad-
cast on the South Plains live from Mike My-
ers Stadium by KFLP. The broadcast will be
aired on KTNZ in order to extend the live
coverage throughout the Panhandle. The
coverage is being carried out by Paramount
Broadcasting Corp. of Floydada, owner of
KFLP.
The live broadcast will begin at 9 a.m.
on Friday with play-by-play coverage of the
3200-meter races for classes 1A through
4A, as well as reports and results from field
events taking place through noon.
From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., the broadcast team
will recap events from earlier in the day. The
hour will include interviews with athletes
and coaches, as well as previews of upcoming
events.
The 3A and 4A track events will be fea-
tured from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Between the
races, reports and results from field events
taking place at that time will be broadcast.
On Saturday, the day begins at 11 a.m.
with an hour recapping the previous day's re-
sults. Interviews with athletes and coaches,
as well as previews of upcoming 1A and 2A
events, will also be featured.
At noon, play-by-play coverage resumes
with the 1A and 2A track events, as well as
reports and results from field events.
The broadcast team includes: announcer
Steven Orr; Corey Johnston, who will provide
field reports and coverage from the award
stand; Mark Styles, who will report from the
field and offer color commentary, and; Tony
St. James, who will host and produce the
broadcast.
