On June 15, 1910, 20 women organized and opened the Palacios Library. By the end of the year, it contained 104 members, 325 books, and $150 in the treasury. A narrowly framed building which was once the town box ball alley originally housed the Library. A Tocker Foundation grant aided in digitization efforts.

The Private Collection of Melvin E. Brewer consists of 39 letters revealing the courtship of Emma Davis and John C. Brewer between 1876 and 1879. John C. Brewer was living in Rockwall County and Emma Davis was in Hopkins County at the time. The collection includes transcriptions of each letter.

Edith Virginia Cox Cooper, born 1909, inherited the personal and business papers of her father, Charles Claiborne Cox, who founded the town of Splendora, Texas. In turn, Edith left the papers to her daughter, Nina Ruth Cooper, who recognized their importance as a piece of early Texas history, providing insight into the settlement of early Texas. With the help of her niece (Edith’s granddaughter), Connie Cooper Henderson, Nina arranged for their preservation.
