Cullen Fund sponsors poetry reading Nov. 3
Poet Linda Pastan will read from
her poetry Tuesday Nov. 3 at 8
p.m. In the Duffy Auditorium of
Richardson Library according to
Dr. Robert Fink associate pro-
fessor in English.
She will lead a question-answer
discussion session on creative
writing that afternoon from
2:30-4:00 also in Duffy Auditorium
said Fink.
Admission to both programs is
free. Funding was provided by the
Cullen Fund.
Ms. Pastan is a native of
Potomac Md. She teaches at
American University in
Washington D.C. and is on the
faculty of Mlddlebury College's
Bread Loaf Writers' Conference in
Mlddlebury Vt.
She has received several
honors including grants from the
National Endowment for the Arts
and from the Maryland Arts Coun-
cil Mademoiselle's Dylan Thomas
Poetry Award and the Poetry
Society of America's Dl
Castagnola Award.
Six books have been published
to her credit Including A Perfect
Circle of Sun On the Way to the
Zoo Aspects of Eve The Five
Stages of Grief Setting the Table
and Waiting For My Life.
Her poems have appeared in
"The Atlantic Monthly"
"Harper's" "The New Yorker"
"The New Republic" "Ms."
"Poetry" "American Poetry

Activities Office recently announc-
ed this year's Seminary Day on
campus will be Oct. 29.
Palmer McCown director of
religious activities at HSU said
representatives from each of the
six Southern Baptist seminaries
will be available for both individual

In December 1981 or May 1982
should file a degree card in the
Registrar's Office. No diplomas
are ordered until the degree card is
on file.

Along with the interviews each
year one of the representives also
serves as chapel speaker for the
day and Dr. Bruce Corley pro-
fessor at Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Fort
Worth and a former HSU professor
will be the speaker this year.
Registration for the special pro-
gram begin today in HSU's
Religious Activities Office in
Moody Center. Students may also
register on Seminary Day in the
library.
