Financial Requirements for the G.E.D.: Non-graduates of high schools, sevenInformation
teen (17) years of age or over, who have NOT been enrolled in a
secondary school for the academic year preceeding admission may
qualify for admission to Howard Payne by presenting acceptable scores.
This test is given periodically at the university.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION:
A student admitted on condition would be limited to 13 semester
hours for the first semester of attendance and must make a "C" average
or be placed on probation. The student placed on probation must make
an over-all 1.5 average for the term or be suspended for the following
Fall semester.
Students who score below 12 on the English section of the ACT
are required to pass English 1300, a preparatory college English course,
prior to enrollment in English 1311. Credit for English 1300 is elective
only and does not count toward the General Education requirements
in English.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
The Board of Trustees establishes policies for the financial management
of Howard Payne University. The Business Manager is charged
with the responsibility of applying and enforcing all regulations which
have to do with the collection of student accounts due the university.
Due to the circumstances of continually increasing costs, Howard
Payne University reserves the right to change expenses here listed without
notice to prospective students.
Expenses are kept as low as possible consistent with effective operation
of the university and the general welfare of students.
TUITION AND FEES
Because of ever increasing inflationary costs, Howard Payne University
can no longer offer a guaranteed tuition program to students
enrolling for the first time after the spring semester of 1974. (All students
under the old guaranteed tuition programs shall continue at that
rate as long as they are making NORMAL progress toward a degree.
When a student drops out of his Guaranteed Tuition Plan and returns
later, he will return at the CURRENT rate.) Normal progress is when
a student is taking 12 or more hours each fall and spring until he
graduates.

(includes all home football and basketball games, student
union fees, hospitalization insurance, Yellow Jacket
newspaper, Lasso yearbook, library fees, civic music fee,
chapel and athletic charge.)
