A STATEMENT OF ADMISSIONS POLICY Method of
Admission
Howard Payne University reserves the right to require any applicant
to appear before the Admissions Committee prior to admission.
Application forms, available from the Admissions and Records
Office, should be completed and returned along with the following
materials:
* Official transcripts, or a letter of good standing for a transient
student, from all schools attended. The applicant must request
that these transcripts be sent to Howard Payne.
* $15.00 admission fee.
* $25.00 Room deposit for dormitory students.
* Health Form signed by a physician.
* A recent photograph of applicant.
* Official test scores on the ACT or CEEB (SAT) (not required
of transfer or international students.)
* Veterans should send a copy of separation papers (DD-214.)
METHOD OF ADMISSION
TRANSFER STUDENTS: Transfer students must be eligible to return
to the school last attended. All passing grades are accepted. 60 hours
must be completed at the senior college level. (No advanced hours
may be transferred from a junior college.) Transfer students entering
with less than a 2.0 grade point average will be admitted on condition.
UNCONDITIONAL ADMISSION:
1. Students in upper /2 graduating class, or a grade average above
85. No ACT minimum.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION:
1. Students below 12 of graduating class and above the bottom 1/,
a grade average between 70-84. No ACT minimum.
2. Admission of students in bottom 1/4, or below 70 ave., who make
12 or above on the ACT will be admitted conditionally.
ADMISSION DENIED:
1. Students in bottom 1/4 of class, below 70 ave., and below 12 on
ACT.
To waive admission policy an appeal for admission can always be made
to the admissions committee.
ADMISSION BY EXAMINATION:
Graduates from non-accredited high schools and graduates with
insufficient credits may be admitted by presenting satisfactory scores on
the General Educational Development Test. (G.E.D.)9
