BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
The dormitories will be open for freshmen the day previous
to the day designated for aptitude tests. The first meal will be
served in the dormitory at six o'clock on that day. The dormitories
will be open for upper classmen one day previous to the
first registration day, and the first meal will be served for them
on the evening of that day.
The management of the men and women's dormitories will
see that young men and women keep their rooms in good order,
and any damage done to furniture or building will be charged to
occupants of the room.
For Women. Non-resident unmarried students will be required
to board and room in the dormitories as long as room is
available. On application to the dean of women worthy girls
may be permitted to work in the homes of our citizens for room
and board and in exceptional cases mature students may do light
housekeeping. Such girls are under dormitory regulations.
Each young woman is to furnish the following articles for
use in her room; a comfort, blanket, bed spread, pillow, pillow
cases, sheets for single beds, towels, soft-soled house shoes, curtains,
and all personal toilet articles. Curtains and bed spreads are
often bought after arrival in order that roommates may purchase
these together. First-aid kit fitted with tape, gauze, salves, gargle,
hot water bottle, aspirin, anacin and prescriptions from the family
physician for any chronic illness which a girl may have will assist
the house nurse in giving proper care in case of illness.
The Boys Dormitory. The new Boys Dormitory will accommodate
one hundred and sixty. It will be presided over by the
Dean of Men. Boys living in the dormitory must take their meals
at Howard Payne Hall.
Young men living in the dormitories will furnish their comforts,
blankets, bed spreads, pillow, pillow cases, sheets for single
beds, towels, and toilet articles.
Private Homes. Lists of approved boarding houses for boys
are filed in the business office. The Dean of Men should be consulted
before changes are made.
STUDENT LABOR
The college undertakes to furnish a limited number of student
labor jobs on the campus, in the dormitories, in the library
and offices of the college. These jobs are granted to deserving
students who have sufficient money to pay a substantial part of36
