5329. Field Work in Missions.
Students will set their own goals and structure procedures in a mission involvement project among
peoples of different ethnic groups in Abilene under the guidance of the professor in charge.
Requirements for this course may also be satisfied by participation in faculty-approved evangelistic
efforts at home and abroad.
5333. Leadership Training By Extension.
An evaluation of leadership training method abroad. The student will design an extension model and
write a proven unit of extension education material.
5341. Seminar in Selected Missionary Fields.
A research program designed to prepare the prospective missionary through an understanding of the
culture of the people among whom he will be working.
5344. Urban Anthropology.
Ecological study of urban areas from a cross-cultural perspective consideration of ways and means of
introducing social change in urban populations.
5345. Cultural Anthropology.
The cultures of people throughout the world, with emphasis on cultural patterns. The course is
especially valuable for missionaries, but it is also recommended for all Christian workers. (Same as
Corn. 5345).
5346. Missionary Principles and Practices.
An attempt to determine Biblical principles relating to world evangelism and a pragmatic approach
to determine through research which methods have been productive through the ages.
5347. The Home Church and Missions.
Designed to teach church leaders how to educate the local congregation in world missions and how to
organize the total resources of the church to promote and support the world outreach of the
congregation. Such topics as the mission committee, developing a mission philosophy, criteria for
selecting and training a missionary, choosing the field, and overseeing the missionary will be covered.
5348. Introduction to Church Growth.
An approach to missions (both foreign and domestic) in which the prime objectives are growing
and reproducing self-sustaining churches. Course includes Biblical basis of missions, cultural
implications, and how churches grow. Readings are in current books and journals on the growing
church.
5356. The Mission and Expansion of the New Testament Church.
Same as New Testament 5356.
5369. Introduction to Linquistics.
The science of language with emphasis varying with the needs and aims of the classes. (Same as
English 5369 and Mass Communication 5369).
5372. Living World Religions.
Same as Doctrinal 5372.
5379. Latin America.
The Latin American states including their relationship with the United States.
5380. Urban Evangelism.
A study of the metropolitan centers of the world and how the Christian message has been and is being
presented in these cities.
5389. Animism.
A study of the religions of those peoples who traditionally hold to the doctrines of animism.
6300. Guided Study.
May be repeated for up to six hours of credit.
6319. General Research Methods.
An introduction to research methods and their application to research problems. Prerequisite:
Psychology 3356 or 3368 or equivalent. (Same as Corn. 6311, Ed 6311, and Psy. 6311.)
6370. Seminar in Cross-Cultural Communications.
Various topics of vital interest to prospective missionaries will be researched.
6371. Supervised Research in Missions.
