The following areas of specialization require only one
teaching field:
1. Required courses for specialization in Art, 54 hrs.:

2. Required courses for specialization in English, 42 hrs.:
(1) three hours chosen from ENGL 582 or 583, plus
three hours chosen from ENGL 221, 581, 584, 593,
594; (2) six hours chosen from ENGL 222, 590, 591,
592; (3) six hours chosen from ENGL 527, 528, 572;
(4) six hours chosen from ENGL 223, 224, 225, 226,

4. Required courses for specialization in Computer
Science, 28 hrs.: CS 105, 127, 151, 152, 160, 161, 162,
351, 491, 553, 354.5. Required courses for specialization in English, 30 hrs.:
(1) six hours of sophomore literature chosen from
ENGL 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 231, 232; (2)

hours chosen from ENGL 527, 528, 572; (5) three
hours chosen from ENGL 576, 577, 578; (6) three

chosen from 500-level US History; six hours chosen
from 500-level non-US History.
11. Required courses for specialization in Journalism, 33
hrs.: JMC 110, 117, 223, 224, 233, 341, 542, 549, 588,
589; plus three hours chosen from JMC 115, 517,
540, 550. In addition, students who do not pass a
Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling Examination
must take JMC 101, and students who do not pass a
typing test must take ISQS 125.
