Academic Information 15
Resources of the library include more than 700,000 books,
microforms, audio-visual materials, government documents,
and periodicals. A current subscription list of
more than 2,073 journals adds to the research materials
available for students and faculty. Several special collections
add strength in unique areas: the Robbins Railroad
Collection, the Omar Burleson Archives, the Herald of
Truth Radio and Television Archives, and a collection of
rare Bibles, as well as church and ACU archival materials.
The Center for Restoration Studies, housed in the library,
contains materials on church and Restoration history including
many rare documents, letters, and artifacts. The
center sponsors special exhibits, lecture series, and tours.
The Sewell Bible Library, with strengths in Restoration
and Biblical studies, forms the foundation of the center's
research materials.
Services of the library include not only assistance with
resources in the library, but on-line reference service and
bibliographic instruction. Close cooperation with the
Abilene Public Library, the Hardin-Simmons University
Library, and the McMurry College Library through the
Abilene Library Consortium makes available all the resources
and services of these libraries to ACU students and
faculty. Access to materials from most of the major
libraries in the country are available to ACU patrons
through inter-library loan.
