the purposes in a
Bible education
Purposes governing the planning and work
of the Bible Department are:
To provide such a knowledge of the Bible
and related studies that the student will be wellgrounded
intellectually in the Christian faith and
that his own faith will be a personal experience
to be lived and shared.
Specifically, we seek:
* To prepare for and/or deepen faith in God, Christ,
the Holy Spirit, and the Bible.
* To furnish basic training for sound Biblical interpretation
and to inspire to a continuing study of the Bible.
* To train and inspire the students for service in the
church, for Christian living, and for the sharing of
their faith.
* To develop "warm" spiritual attitudes in both faculty
and students so that "things of the Spirit" will always
be the primary values.
* To convey an understanding of the history of Christianity
and its contemporary expressions.
* To explore the nature of religion and of the contemporary
world and to understand how Christianity
relates to them.
* To teach students to think deeply and to formulate
for themselves an integrated and well-rounded Christian
philosophy of life with clearly defined goals,
purposes, values and assumptions.
* To provide intellectual leadership in churches of
Christ through the faculty's teaching, research and
publication.
A special and prominent purpose of the
Bible department is the inspiration and training
of preachers of the gospel of Christ, and also
missionaries and persons for other types of ministry
and evangelistic work.requirements
