355-Problems of Acting.
An advanced study in dramatic interpretation and characterization
with emphasis on voice, pantomime, and make-up.
Projection of well defined and effective characterization stressed.358-Junior Oral Interpretation.
An intensive study of the technique of platform reading of
poetry, drama. dramatic monologue, short story, dialect. A formal
recital is required.
357-Radio Speaking.
A study of radio speaking as a medium for voice improvement
with emphasis on elimination of functional speech defects (such
as nasality, articulatory inadequacies, etc.) and the improving
of diction. The writing and speaking of radio continuity.
Microphone usage and opportunity for regular broadcasting
offered.
381-Advanced Oral Interpretation.
An advanced course in the interpretation of classic, modern,
and contemporary literature; reading from memory and from
manuscript; program building for special occasions and various
audiences. Formal recital or lecture as advised by instructor.

386-The Teaching of Speech.
Emphasis upon the teaching of the fundamentals of speech, including
consideration of the nature, function, and scope of the
speech program, the evaluation of text-books, the conduct of
extra-curricular speech activities. Offered in alternate years.

A study of the outstanding speakers and speeches in the history
of the world, with historic background of the speeches.

395-History of the Theater.
The world theater; the history through periods of great dramatic
productions; plays produced and methods of producing
them in the college and school theater. Offered in alternate
