Private Lessons
111-112-First Year Art
The work of the first year gives the student a technical command
of the medium with which he works and developes individual
expression in creative painting. Emphasis is placed
on composition, still life, flowers from nature and landscape.
Mediums: Oil, water color, and pastel.
131-132-Second Year Art,
The second year deals with more advanced composition. Landscape,
still life, flower study from nature with the introduction
of figure painting. Mediums: Oil, water color and pastels. Formerly
121, 122.
151-152-Third Year Art.
The third year work is arranged to meet the needs of the individual
student Mediums: Oil, water color, and pastels. Formerly
131, 132.
171-172-Fourth Year Art.
Advanced work to meet the demands of the individual student.
Mediums: Oil, water color, and pastels. Formerly 141, 142.
In each of the above courses the students has two three-hour
periods a week. (Special Fee).
Class Work
The following courses have no fee other than the charge for
regular college hours:
311-Art Structure.
Combination of former Art Structure and Commercial Art. Elementary
freehand drawing; light and shade; form perception
through study of still life. Emphasis upon structure of form.
Nature drawing in pencil, wash, pen and ink from leaves, blossoms,
still life, etc., and their conventionalization for use in
design.
312-Art Structure.
Continuation of 311. Color, with theory and harmonies of color
is introduced, and used in working out more advanced problems
in freehand drawing, design, and composition.
313-Teaching of Art in the Grades.
This course is planned for teachers in the grades who wish to
increase their knowledge and understanding of art through experiences
with various media and processes. Practical work, lectures
and readings.
314-Art Appreciation for the Grades.
The study and enjoyment of art through abundant illustrative
material. Study of the school room and school grounds as factors
in art education. The study of picture analysis, composition
and arrangement, study approaches and classification of pictures.Abilene Christian College
