the aim of this course.
380-History of Art.
The history of Art through the ages from the remote days of
the glacial age in Europe, through the successive civilizations
of the Near-East, Europe, America and the Orient, to the
twentieth century. Each unit is studied as a unit of culture.
385-Technique.
Various techniques as used in the commercial field. Pen and
ink, wash, pencil, watercolor.
Students who finish eighteen hours of class work in Art including
courses 311, 312, 313, 314, 320, and 380 and four hours
of private work are given a certificate of proficiency; provided
they have satisfied the college entrance requirements, and
completed two year college work.
A. C. C. Art Club is an organization of students interested in
art. Its object is to increase the art interest in the College and to
unite in a closer fellowship those of like interests.
Music
Mr. Burford Miss Sieh
Miss Norene Watson Mr. Crain
Primary object of the music department is to offer its students
a thorough, practical and broad musical education, whether or
not they intend to adopt music as a profession. Instrumental and
vocal music are offered with a view to training musicians who will
be competent to teach and to perform. Instruction is offered to both
the regular student taking a degree course, and to the preparatory
or special student wishing to study without credit.
This department has five divisions: Piano, voice, violin, music
education, and band. Any one of these may be used as a major for
a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Major requirements for piano, voice, violin:
Eight semesters of private work in division selected and
music 200 (unless exempt.)
Music 201, 202, 311, 312, 341, 342, 361, 362, 251, 252, 271,
372, 291, 292.
Voice and violin majors must do Music 221, 222, and two
semesters of private work in piano, unless exempt.
Minor: art, English, education, foreign language, or home
economics.82
