Four Year High SchooL-Upon completion of sixty semester
hours of college work, including Government 325 and 326 and
twelve semester hours in education, six of which must bear upon
high school teaching, a high school certificate valid for four years
may be issued.
Six Year High SchooL-Upon completion of ninety semester
hours of college work, including Government 325 and 326 and
and eighteen semester hours in education, six of which must bear
upon high school teaching, and three of which must be in practice
teaching, a high school certificate valid for six years may be issued.Permanent High SchooL-Upon completion of four years of
college work leading to a degree, provided that this work includes
Government 325 and 326, twenty-four semester hours in education,
six of which shall bear on high school teaching and six of which
shall consist of the study of methods, observation of methods and
practice teaching, one-third of which must bear on high school
teaching, a permanent high school certificate may be issued.
Any person holding a degree, who has not had twenty-four
semester hours in education, but who has completed twelve semester
hours in education, six of which must bear upon high school
teaching, and who has had three years (twenty-seven months) of
successful teaching experience subsequent to taking the degree,
shall be entitled to receive from the State Department of Education
a permanent high school certificate, valid anywhere in the
state.
Administrator's Certificate.-Requirements for this certificate
are as follows: Graduation from college, twelve semester hours of
credit in the field of advanced administration and six semester
hours of credit in the field of advanced methods. Individuals meeting
these requirements may receive from the State Department of
Education an Administrator's Certificate of Approval.
Extension of Certificates.-Any kind of valid legal state certificate,
regardless of how obtained-whether by examination or
college credit-which has not expired at the beginning of any summer
school shall have the right to have such certificate extended
for a period of one year by completion of six semester hours
credit in residence during the summer session of the college. Correspondence
work will not count.
The validity of all certificates begins with the date of last work
completed, and not from the date of application of certificate.39
