321-The Life of Jesus Christ.
This is an intensive study of the recorded facts of His life with
the social, civil, and moral backgrounds that aid in understanding
it.
322-The Teaching of Jesus and Apostolic History.
This is a comprehensive study of the ethical principles taught
by Jesus, and the beginning and spread of the Christian religion.351-Religious Theories.
A study of various popular doctrines of modern sects and cults.
352-Religious Theories.
A continuation of 351. (Credit may be had for 352 without 351.)
361-The Church.
The book of Acts is the text. It is observed that this book is a
continuation of Luke's gospel; that it presents Christ supervising
the inauguration and the expansion of His church. Conversion,
the undenominational and non-sectarian character of
the church, its social life, and its missionary activity are given
proper emphasis.
362-Christianity Applied.
The pastoral and the general epistles are studied. These ten
short books hold a wealth of varied teaching, covering the field
of sound doctrine, of worship, of the order and the ministry of
the church, and of the personal life of all Christians. As the
title of the course implies, the object is to make correct, practical
application of all these things to the church and to Christians.370-Bible versus Modernism.
This course deals with modernism and atheistic philosophy in
the light of recent discoveries in science, history and archaeology,
from the viewpoint of the Bible apart from any appearance
of guesswork. It deals with "cold" facts, supported by the highest
scholarship. It was introduced in spring semester 1936 under
number 372.
371-Historical Introduction to Old Testament.
Includes some data pertaining to Canon, customs, laws and institutions
of the Hebrews, but is primarily a very comprehensive
survey of the contents of the Old Testament from the
Creation to the Return from the Captivity in Babylon. It is
given in outlines.
373-The Law and the Gospel.
The books of Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Galatians, and Hebrews
are studied. This course is designed to show the supremacy of
the New Covenant over the Old. The superiority of Christ over
angels and Moses, and the superiority of His priesthood over
Aaron's in origin, nature and efficacy are set forth. The hortatory
appeal of the book of Hebrews, especially, has a quickening
influence upon students.
374-Christianity versus Paganism.
This course is a study of the Corinthian letters and the prison41
