come? Why not let an institution whose reputation in teachertraining
is at present most excellent and is increasing more and
more each year, assist you in making this improvement?
HIGH SCHOOL COACHES
Coach Morris and Assistant Coach Scruggs will both be in
Abilene Christian College this summer. Special coaching lessons
will be given to high school coaches in football, basket ball
and baseball.
The Abilene Christian College football team has been for
the past two years one of the lightest in the T. I. A. A., and yet
has been one of the strongest, due largely to the coaching ability
of Coaches Morris and Scruggs. The basketball team this year
finished second in the T. I. A. A. The team showed some of the
most brilliant playing that has ever been seen in the Association.
The ability of Coach Morris and Assistant Coach Scruggs
will be at the disposal of high school coaches during the summer
session. Special classes in the various sports will be held,
and individual training will be given if wanted. This is a splendid
opportunity, and many coaches will be glad to take advantage
of it.
CERTIFICATES
The matter of certificates qualifying the holders thereof to
teach in the public schools of Texas is entirely controlled by state
legislation. The present laws of Texas provide for the certification
of students of Abilene Christian College along with those
of other similar institutions on the following terms:
1. Three kinds of certificates are issued.
a. Elementary certificates, which are valid for four
years, or for six years, or may become permanent, depending
upon the amount of work done by the applicant,
as given below. These certificates are valid only
in grades one to seven inclusive.
b. Temporary High School certificates, valid for two
years, for four years, or for six years, depending upon
the amount of work done by the applicant, as outlined
below. These certificates are valid for all grades of
public work.
c. Permanent High School certificates, valid for all
grades.8
