COURSES OF INSTRUCTION
The instruction is both individual and class; therefore, each
pupil gets just the kind of work desired.
SHORTHAND AND TYPEWRITING.
There are no more effective time-savers than Shorthand and
Typewriting, nor more pleasant and profitable occupation than
that furnished by them. No other useful arts are so easily and
quickly mastered, if properly taught; and as a stepping stone to
the highest commercial success, they are positively unequalled.
Intelligence, accuracy, and speed in writing shorthand must be
accompanied by skill and ability in the use of the typewriter. The
typewritten page is the test of the Stenographer's ability. The
employer requires that the Stenographer should place upon his
desk in the shortest possible time a neat, accurate reproduction of
his dictation. Business men of today cannot afford to send out
poorly typed letters.
The best teaching of shorthand and typewriting is that which
secures the best results with the least effort on the part of the
student.
In this course. the principles of Isaac Pitman shorthand are
taught, and the student is required to attain a speed of 100 words
per minute before receiving credit for the course. Touch typewriting
is taught and the speed requirement for competition is 50
words per minute. Thirty words from notes.
Text.-Isaac Pitman Shorthand.
TYPEWRITING.
Designed for those who wish to learn to write easily and speedily
on the typewriter without learning shorthand.
Text.-Chas. E. Smith "Expert Typewriting."
THE BOOKKEEPING COURSE.
Our course combines actual business practice with theory. Our
principle is, not in how short a time can we graduate a student,
but how we may prepare him for a successful business career.
There is a strong demand today for young men and women who
can do things in the accounting line. The services of men and
women who can make a statement showing a true condition of a
business, are in demand.59
