ENGLISH BIBLE.
That a knowledge of the English Bible is an essential part of
a liberal education needs no proof. History, literature, science,
civil and moral law have been, and continue to be, influenced by
this Book. The Bible itself is the real text studied, and the greater
emphasis is placed on the historical books. In no other history are
we able to trace with such certainty the causes and effects of events,
to discover such a practical relation between the history we study
and that we are making. The course is not secretarian, but historical,
evangelical and practical. Being of this essential character, it is
required of all candidates for a degree.
BIBLE 1.-OLD TESTAMENT.
FALL, WINTER, SPRING. Three Hours a Week
This course will be introduced by a general view of the Bible.
The class will study Bible history as given in the seventeen historical
books of the Old Testament, and parallel passages in the
Prophets. This is followed by the history of the Jews to the
time of Christ. Outlines, maps and other notes are to be reported
as part of the work done.
