of achievement.
Quality Points. The method of estimating level of achievement
for students is the use of the quality point. The number
of points earned varies with the grades made in courses,
thus giving an over-all measure of quality of work. Points
are awarded as follows:

A Superior 4
B Good (above average) 3
C Average 2
D Poor (below average but passing) 1
F Failure 0
A student is required to amass a minimum of two quality
points per semester hour attempted in order to qualify for
graduation. This is a grade average of C.
Students who transfer to Hardin-Simmons University as
candidates for graduation must fulfill the requirements in
quality of work in the courses taken at Hardin-Simmons
University and then in the total credits presented for
graduation.
GRADUATION WITH HONORS
If a student earns a total of 444 grade points for 124 (minimum
required) semester hours of work, or a grade point
average of 3.58, he is entitled to be graduated magna cum
laude. If he earns a total of 480 grade points for 124 (minimum
required) semester hours of work, or a grade point
average of 3.87, he is entitled to be graduated summa cum
laude.
Transfer students who are candidates for honors must
fulfill the requirements for honors in the work taken in
Hardin-Simmons University and then in the total credits
presented for graduation.
ENGLISH USAGE
A further effort is made at Hardin-Simmons to assist students
in achieving and maintaining quality of work in the
emphasis placed upon good English usage. Since the ability
