interest of the student. The final two years work will be
planned after the student transfers to Texas Technological
College.
The study of engineering requires a thorough background
of preparation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. It
is highly desirable, therefore, for the prospective engineering
student to present a high school record which includes
2 units in algebra, 1 unit in plane geometry, and 2 units in
science, one of which should be physics. If the student has
adequate high school preparation determined by testing, it
may be possible for him to omit from the list the courses
marked with an asterisk.
A four-year plan for a degree in certain phases of engineering
is also available to students. Under this plan, the
student does two years' work at Hardin-Simmons University
and two long sessions and two summers at Texas Technological
College. No degree is granted by Hardin-Simmons
under this plan, but a degree in engineering is granted by
Texas Technological College, upon successful completion of
the plan. Courses to be taken at Hardin-Simmons University
