than the total of 1989 and 13.2 percent above the 1988
aggregate. Erath's income ranked 122nd among Texas' 254
counties in 1990.
Bosque county revealed the Cross Timbers' slowest
growth pattern over these three years. Its $14,624 per
capita income estimate for 1990 is only 1.8 percent greater
than the year before and is 7.5 percent above the figure
posted two years earlier. Bosque held 137th place among
the state's counties in 1990.
Comanche county had the fastest income growth rate
among local counties between 1988 and 1990. Its $14,556
per capita income estimate for 1990 is 10.9 percent greater
than the year before and 25 percent above the average two
years earlier. The county's income ranked 139th among
Texas counties in 1990.
Eastland county's $12,851 income value for 1990compares favorably to the $11,892 and $10,973 figures
reported for 1989 and 1988. In 1990, Eastland ranked
207th among the state's counties in per capita income.
Hamilton county revealed a $15,967 per capita in-
come estimate for 1990. This figure reflects growth rates of
five percent and 15.9 percent over 1989 and 1988 values.
Hamilton was Texas' 92nd most prosperous county in
1990.

Local Unemployment
Rates Move Higher
The Cross Timbers area followed national and state
trends during the second quarter, as jobless rates in four of
five counties moved higher between April and June. Most
counties also reported higher second quarter unemploy-
ment than in the same three months of 1991.
Erath county's jobless statistic rose from 4.6 percent
in April to six percent in June. This movement reflected an
increase in the civilian labor force, and a decline in total
employment. The county's jobless rate averaged 4.4 per-
cent during the same three months of last year.
Comanche county's idleness rate jumped from 6.4
percent in April to 9.6 percent in May, then declined to 6.5
percent in June. The average of these rates compares
unfavorably to the 5.4 percent mean reported for the same
three months of 1991.
Eastland county's unemployment statistic declined
from 6.6 percent in April to 6.1 percent in May, but jumped
to 7.1 percent by the quarter's end. The average of these
rates is identical to the mean value for the year before.
Hamilton was the only Cross Timbers county which
reported a declining jobless rate in the second quarter. Its
