In an effort to quell some of the
rumors on campus. President Harold G.
Jeffcoat held the first two of three sched-
uled forums with Wesleyan students.
Jeffcoat, working closely with SGA
president Raun Shepard, met with
approximately 40 students in the Quad
during free period, Tuesday, March 5,
anil with residents in Stella Russell Hall
later that same evening.
Among the concerns raised by stu-
dents was the status of the university fol-
lowing the SACS probation. Jeffcoat
assured students that Wesleyan had met
or was meeting all recommendations
made by the SACS committee.
"'[We are in the process of] a 10-
year self study which allows us to continu-
ally reassess ourselves and make adjust-
ments," said Jeffcoat.
"In April 2003, SACS will conduct a

site study and make recommendations. We
will then have a chance to remedy those rec-
ommendations within a period of time." he
said.
"On the financial side of home,
[we don't believe there will be] many
recommendations. Now they will look
at things like. "Are we teaching things
we don't have the resources for?' or
Is the library adequately stocked'.'""
Jeffcoat addressed questions about
the recent changes in the department
of freshmen and transfer admissions.
"I have not been happy with not
only transfer admissions, but with all
of admissions. I wanted to see a redis-
tribution of financial aid and a more
proactive recruitment. That met with
some resistance," Jeffcoat said.

Wesleyan will recieve a uni-

'Ram Mail.' This will become
the official student e-mail.
"The e-mail and the web-
site will be fully functioning
bv Friday," said Phaiah. "Most
students will be able to log
onto the system without any
problems."
To set up their account,
students should visit

From there students will
