you could inform me in what light the authorities will
view this quention<^ shall be very thankful. I will not
conseal from you the fact that I expect to be benefited ty
this buiseness, but you know sir that I stand much in neede
of some help in this world, there are a number of papers
that it will be necessary for me to have to present the case
to the commissioner and limpressario, which it will be trouble
/ som^ to obtain, if you think I stand a chance of succeed-
ing, and will get me the necessary papers I will pledge
myself to account to you for your trouble and expence ao
sodn as you return to Texas, or sooner if you will point
out any way by which I can do so, if sir you think propper
to aid me with your counsil and assistance in this matter,^
I hope you will, in any conversation you may hold on the
J) subject, s.eak of it as though it was mearly for your own
information, and not let it be known that the question will
ever be called up, I have not room in this letter to inform
you of my reasons for wishing to keepe the affair a secret,
but sir I tell you they are good.
May I request an answer to this letter as soon as it
