Education
Week
The Roma ISD is observing
American Education Week from
Nov. 15-21
Roma High School, Roma Jr.
High, Roma Intermediate, and F.J
Scott Elementary Schools are
saluting American Education this
week "by having students show
their respect and doing their best
in all classes during the second six
weeks exams in trying to build our
schools for a better tomorrow."
said a spokesman for the Roma
ISD.
American Education Week was
first observed in 1921 and is now
sponsored by the national P T.A ,
American Legion, the National
Education Association, the Na-
tional School Board Association,
and the United States Department
of Education.
The Roma ISD spokesman
commented, "Education is number
one for all of us to look at and
continue to seek improvement for
each of us. Education is a never
ending process. It is through
education that all of us learn and
make our society an enjoyable one.
Education, especially public educa-
tion, is the memory, conscience
and development force of our
national life "

Participates
In NATO Exercises
Pvt 1st Class Jose A Guerra,
son of Hernan and Martha Guerra
of Roma, has participated in the
NATO sponsored exercise, Return
of Forces to Germany '87 (RE-
FORGER)
The exercise was designed to
evaluate plans and support
agreements between NATO
member nations, to exercise West
Germany's ability to support de-
ploying forces and to test the
ability of European-based units to
quickly link reinforcing units with
their pre-positioned equipment
Pvt. Guerra is assigned to the
2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood.

Conducting Food Drive
The Roma High School Student
Council has announced its officers
for 1987-88.
They are: Francisco "Frankie"
Guerra, IV, president, Jose (Joey)
G. Gonzalez, vice-president; Cyn-
thia Ibanez, treasurer; Enedelia
Miranda, secretary; Alicia Munoz,
reporter Guadalupe R Cortez is
the sponsor.
The Roma Hich Student Council
is currently conducting a Thanks-
giving canned food drive for the
needy. The deadline for the drive
will be Wednesday, Nov. 25. All
donations can be taken to Roma
High School in Room 601.
Also, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the
Student Council sponsored a Veter-
an's Day Assembly in *he high
school gym at 9:10 a.m.
