In other action the school
board heard and approved a
request from the Rio Grande
City High School band director
Nicolas Gonzalez. The band
director requested an overnight
stay trip for the band to attend
and participate in the Corpus
Christi Bucaneer Days
celebration.Thetrip will be both
competitive and educational.

the merits of the trip and ap-
proved the trip after it was
stipulated that the board would
pay its own way. The cost of the
charter buses and other ex-

your efforts to conserve energy
but you must realize that while
other class or groups have been
turned down on their trips they
have other years in which to
make such a trip, for our local
seniors this is their last year,"
Mrs. Trevino said.

board on the progress on the
FM radio station being sought
by the school. The project when
approved would be federally

provide funds for its operation
for one year. The radio station

during the day and three or four
at night but would be strictly
educational and could not be
used commercially. The board
tabled the matter pending
further study into a request by
the government that if the
ESAA project was not approved
for the period after the one year
funding that the district would
put up the $26,000.00 needed to
