H. B. No. 1, A bill to be entitled An
Act appropriating Five Hundred
Thousand Dollars to the House of
Representatives and Two Hundred
Sixty Thousand Dollars to the Senate
for per diem, other salaries and
wages, consumable supplies and ma-
terials, current and recurring operat-
ing expenses, capital outlay, repairs
and renovations to capitol, other
necessary expenses, and for opera-
tions of the Legislative Council; and
declaring an emergency.
Referred to the Temporary Com-
mittee on Appropriations.
COMMITTEE MEETING
Mr. Heatly asked unanimous con-
sent of the House that the Temporary
Committee on Appropriations be per-
mitted to meet at this time.
There was no objection offered.

Whereas, It is appropriate that
Members of the House of Representa-
tives set aside this time to extend
congratulations and best wishes to a
colleague who has reached one of the
most momentous milestones of his
life-the magic age of "39," beyond
which no true follower of Bennyism
must go; and
Whereas, This happy time should
be the occasion for sirens to sound
and bells to ring, for bands to play
and friends to sing, but in keeping
with the decorum of this House, this
isn't possible; and
Whereas, This, our good friend who
is from Houston, Texas, is now
serving his third term as a member
of this Body, and during his tenure
he has gained the affection and re-
spect of all who have been associated
with him; and
Whereas, He is a proud father of
two lovely girls-Margaret. age 13,
and Wendell Ann, who is 9-and is
also blessed with a beautiful, vivac-
ious wife, Patti; but this female
threesome, the staunchest of his con-84
