PROHIBITION.
The Great Gain Made In Four
Years.
Chicago November C The following
has been received from New York:
To the Editor tf the Chicago Dally News:
The total Prohibition vote of the
country will aggregate 2CO000. Four
years ago It was less than 11000 and It
has decided the Presidential contest In
New York. Cleveland's majority Is
about 2000. Ofllolal returns will not
materially change the figures. The
Prohibition vote In New York Is fully
25000. The Republican vote In Alle-
gheny Monroe and Orleans counties
alone would have carried the State for
Blaine If cast for him. The Prohibi-
tionists have stood up to be counted
nnu nave reuuaeu tue insuic ouereu ine
temperance men at the. Chicago conven-
tion and this vote has made urohlbltion
a national Issue which will not go out of
national politics till the beer shops and
tlrlnklngliouscs are gone from America.
The Republican party having been re-
moved from the path to tho graveyard
the Prohibitionists will at once organize
to bury whisky and Democrats four
years ahead. I am fully satisfied we
had no rbolco between the candidates
in the old parties but were lighting to
elect an Issue Work to have that Issue
win In 1BSS has already begun.

Committee.
