remains to tins tlay that thoy did not
get enough clear money out of Houston
by that Issue of the paper to pay for the

showing the Importance or Houston
As the Age has published the map a

The Democrats or the Tenth district
voted for and elected Oustav Schleicher

the tarln In' a speech delivered in San

were alive now and a candidate ho
would be denounced as a Itepubllcon
He said: "I look upon the fast Increas-
ing wool Interest as securing a great
future for our Western oountry. The
portions or the West which are not con-
sidered as well adapted to agriculture
but abound in line grasses will yield
great wealth to our citizens and the
State through sheep husbandry Tor
which our country is better adapted
than portion of the world. Large as the
interest is already its value to our
country is is the value of the seed corn
to tho former; by fostering and assisting
Its growth (t will assume vast propor-
tions. The late change of the torllT ns
as proposed would have reduced the
price of Texas wool seven eenta a nminil
and would have checked the growth or
ui. prumning inuustry. I considered
Uuiy duty to oppose this change and I
shall consider It hereafter my duty if I
shall continue In your service to do all
to promote and as far as I may prevent
everything that may threaten to check
or cripple tho prosperity which Is grow-
ing In the West by this great and grow-
ing Interest."
